Re: fake SA ?
You could be right Rob, I have not seen many of these type four ones, they are like hens teeth, but with the box, how it is soldered, the wear just leads me to think it is ok, I could email pics to David and ask his opinion, I know he collects SA (big time)

Re: fake SA ?
Detlef, keep hold of it I will get David North to have a look, he is a member here anyway, he collects SA buckles

Re: fake SA ?
I know this buckle very well and it is often described as early SA and/or, early SS.
Interestingly and in my opinion, this buckle is not a fake.
Instead, it is a pure fantasy item !
To my knowledge, no such period buckle existed. It is however loosely based upon the rarest of the "standard production" SA's and I have attached two examples of the same for comparison.
Regards,
David

Re: fake SA ?
David
I really appreaciate this information. However I am a little confused. Are you saying that the two examples you posted are fantasy pieces as well?
All you gentlemen have been extremely helpful. Thanks
