David and Kirby, thanks for showing this example, the first time I have ever seen one of these and, if I had seen this for the first time without someone telling me it was original I would have said it was a fake! What an unusual shaped eagle?

And last but not least within the tight knit and otherwise happy family of horizontal wing SA's, this little horror and which in my opinion, is a pure fantasy item.

Hello I would call it a copy not a fantasy. The design is close but they usually have three solder holes and if I remember correctly I didn't like the prongs. kirby

I suppose Kirby it is all very much verbal acrobatics. To myself, a fake is a copy with the clear intent to deceive. The buckle in question is inspired by, however and in my opinion, is not a copy of a pre 1945 design.

Importantly - we all know it as a rogue SA.

Thanks for your input on this one Kirby as we have of course been chin wagging about a very specialised group of SA's.

what a great buckle - the silver straight looks like "the missing Link" between regular SA buckles and the early SS nickle buckles.... IMHO.
Maybe , thats why Angolia called this buckle , "an early SS" ?! Whatever... most important - yours is a really nice and rare buckle.
I think, it's time for you to issue THE devinitive buckle book...with your collection. I really would like to this ...in the future Be sure - I would buy two...or more

Too bad, you don't feel the need to publish a buckle book...but I don't give up the hope. maybe, sometimes when you retire
