Hi Guys .
What do you think about this one ?
I will leave this for David, I have never seen a SA without solder points but the ears prongs and catch look good!
Ben
Is the black stuff glue? I can't remember seeing one like this,
A super SA buckle and which I think is quite scarce.
It is peculiar insofar as the roundel design is rather crude and also, the box is very distinctive by the catch design and the style of ears.
I have attached images of the one that I hold and which has exactly the same roundel and box, albeit with a different pin shroud and claw arrangement.
No solder points and instead, mine has the roundel attached by low temperature silver solder which is I think a seldom seen and yet recognised method of affixing.
The black "glue" is however intriguing and I wonder if the roundel has at some pre 1945 time, become detached and then re affixed with this black "glue". I have attached another SA where at some point the catch has loosened and then, set back into place with what I think is the same black "glue".
An original and rare SA buckle in my opinion.
Regards,
David

Any idea of the maker David? I attribute these ears to the earlier makers for some reason, they always seem similar to some early SS buckles.

Can't help you Ben....but just wanted to pipe in and say great buckles all 'round!
