It looks like a good example of a sun wheel swastika buckle to me, but wait for the experts to be sure. I don't have my book with me for reference.

I purchased and received the buckle - $65 + S&H. Is it best to leave it as is or should it be cleaned/polished?

I personally would not polish it. I polished one of mine and it just doesn't look 'right' to me. Won't make that mistake again.

Excellent SA and in my opinion, not an easy design/construction to find.

This is one of the "deluxe" SA's and which when new, would have had fire gilding (look either side of the eagles head and in recess areas).

I would not clean this one.

Thank you for this information; I would not have known this and when looking from side of buckle I do now see the golden shine on middle section. I probably would have removed this if I had polished this. As a collector my first thought is to leave as found but almost made a mistake here. thanks to all for their advice.
