Sirs,
Was there a specific color to the SA belt buckles , such as silver for units who had suilver buttons, gold for units had gold buttons ?. Or did they just used what they colud order ?.
What was the correct belt buckle to use ?.

Richard, as to your question it is generally thought that "silver" or "white" metal buckles (solid nickel, nickel over brass or nickel over steel) would correspond with silver uniform buttons. Likewise, "golden" or "yellow" buckles like the 2-piece brass example I have shown here below would have most likely been paired with a brass buttoned uniform. I suppose "two-tone" SA buckles like some of the buckles shown here with a silver wash or nickel silver roundel could have gone either way. No hard and fast rules, I believe and the aesthetic taste of the individual purchaser was definitely a factor. Hope that helps answer your question a bit
