Agreed...the challenge is a huge part of the fun of the hobby! I also agree about the prong similiarities with the early O&C nickel SS and the perhaps earlier Overhoff SA (I have attached one such sunwheel example here.) In addition to comparing with marked examples, of course the trick here is trying to achieve a trifecta linkage of box contruction, prongs & roundel design. That all being said (and as an admitted obsessive-compulsive collector) I've had to accept that less than 100% certainty is sometimes the case with these unmarked SA if the trifecta is not found and given that boxes were so often cannibalized, roundels swapped around etc.

Funny, even the ears are similar, and from this picture I can see what you mean about the dimple catch, also if you look the position of the solder points look very similiar, I at work at mo but I will try and put a rear shot of the buckles together for comparison
