Strange Bird

Here is a SA/NSKK with an uncommon eagle. The buckle was painted this dull silver when I picked it up years ago.

That is indeed a strange bird, its huge! Yet the ears and prongs remind me of a nickel overhoff SS

Agree the box looks pretty good, but I don't fancy the eagle design one bit. One finds the strangest and aesthetically challenged eagle designs on SA buckles, many shown on this forum, but this one is grotesque rather than just ugly. Plus, at the time this one started to be shown on the forums, a Wehrmacht Heer buckle with a very similarly distorted eagle body also appeared. Just coincidence?

It actually looks more like a seagull!
