Thoughts on small SA/HJ?

sorry , allright my first thinking was a 35 mm small buckle with to big roundel .

Now the pics from Mac 66 and Lenny speak another positiv language !!!

I hold round about 90 SA buckles , but never seen such a 40mm variation

I guess that's the issue with internet pics, unless you have it in your hand it can be hard to say....

I'm pretty chuffed that I've picked up a rare buckle... I've seen pics of your collection Markus and it is so impressive. I'd searched a lot but until I checked with Jack Angolia and then saw the Assmann catalogue I wasn't sure.

In 40 years of collecting I have never come across a 40 mm SA. I don't remember ever seeing one listed for sale. Being shown in the Assmsnn catalogue means they exist so you have a very rare buckle.

Here's a pic of it on a 40mm belt. I got this brown belt a few months back, it's had a few modifications, adjustment tongue riveted on etc. but it sits well with the buckle.

This buckle brings up the question. What is the rarest SA box type buckle. In no order

SA 40mm
Straight wing 35mm
Straight wing 45 mm one and two piece construction
SA steel back
SA Straight wing political looking eagle
SA four tab attachment
SA no eagle just the SA attachment
Feldherrnhalle if that is what it really is.

There is lots of odd ball SA buckles from small companies. That is why Markus can have 90 SA buckle and there might not be any duplicates .
