Hello I can't get the link to copy. On WFA search Croatian and you'll find the buckle. It's a large thread with 6000+ views. If someone else can link it.

The only buckle book I know that shows this buckle is the French book Gott Mit Uns by Castilla. I will take a photo of the page and add it later. I took a quick look at the book before I left the house. This is a Croatian SS buckle. This looks like it has the right catch but we really need better photos. A nice example of this buckle was on Manions 6-7 years ago. It was priced at $3000 +. I don't remember if it sold.

It is perhaps hard to believe that the buckle which started this thread, is quite original.

I have no further information other than the strong suggestion that these quite peculiar and "horribly theatrical" buckles were designed and produced locally.

Again, almost impossible to believe that they are period - however they are !

    David

The one that started the thread must be a nickle one. I think the other ones I have seen were aluminum.

This one is made of zinc and is conservated with some burned motoroil.
