Re: 17th Airborne Painted Helmet
Here is one of his 101st jobs, I enjoy his skill and would like to buy one of his helmets for reenacting some day, but its sad to see some people reselling his as original if this is the case.

Whoever it is that paints these is quite the talented artist.
The designs are rather well thought out.........

Re: 17th Airborne Painted Helmet
Postwar pile of junk. "Vet painted" helmets are the new fake camos. I wouldn't buy one without direct vet provenance.

I totally agree with Doug. That is why this guy is still trying to sell it.
Vet painted helmet have never been for me and very few collectors buy them.

What Doug posted, an easy way to take your money for an over priced piece of junk IMHO and easier to fake than a camo.
Fools and their money are soon parted.

I think it was done after the war but how late after the war
Hi Gel,i don't think it matters to much whether this was "decorated" in 1946 or 2006,without a clear provenance from the vet who "captured" this lid and painted it,it's not worth diddly squat to a collector. As it stands it,s a ruined M40. Leon

Re: 17th Airborne Painted Helmet
Hmmm... Well I actually saw it up for auction this month from Bagwell & Associates Auction Co. I swear I remember the 'vet estate' part in the description, but, hey, I could be wrong.
