Re: Another Ebay helmet .......
i think the vent holes were punched or stamped out on the m42 earlier models had a seperately fixed vent hope this helps james

Re: Another Ebay helmet .......
It's a M42 with pressed vents, M35 had the separate peice vent....
I'm not crazy on the liner, that stamp seems to be there to tart it up a bit, and the liner pins look loose, post war replacement possibly????

Re: Another Ebay helmet .......
The liner is the civic type, like in Luftschutz helmets etc. I reckon it was used after the war for something, but it might be worth having a Kriegsmarine specialist have a look at it. It has a bit of a shipboard grey colour about it. I'd want to see it up close, the price is getting a bit strong for a punt.
PS the gents are spot on with the analysis of the listing, M35's had separate vent inserts and M40/42's vents are just punched into the shell.

Re: Another Ebay helmet .......
I'm not after it - just wondered about the "LATE WAR, NO HOLES" claim..... never let the facts get in the way of a good story, eh?
Thanks, Dan

Re: Another Ebay helmet .......
It's an M42, Hkp is the maker. Liner is defiantly the civilian type, not military and the stamps on there to jazz it up. To me the outside colour looks cleaned or stripped, which could cause the grey shade. As Kradspam said its getting to high to take a punt but I would er on the side of caution, I would say its a made up lid

Funnily enough, there is a helmet of legend that this applies to. The fabled last ditch 'M45'........
I wish to own one of these.......

Re: Another Ebay helmet .......
Hello All
"Untuched" eh? Anything but! I would agree with Jason & say that this helmet has definately been "fiddled with". This helmet was purchased off
another ebay seller on the 2nd of April. In the description the original seller states that he doesn't know whether it is authentic or not. The item
was bought for 100 GBP & now the new seller has fabricated some cock & bull story & the bidding started at only 0.99 GBP. Look at the current
sellers feedback to see when he actually acquired this helmet.
Regards
Brett
