I agree with the others its been messed with, and if the wire were original you would see the wire pattern in the hemet.

Unless the seller has done the paint job and added the wire netting.....for selling at this price, he perfectly knows this helmet is a piece of crap....and he just waits for a "mug"...

You will never see period chicken wire with red rust. Period steel has a very high zinc content that blackens with age.

That's correct, the wire was galvanized.
