Camo M42- your opinions please !!!

Hi Guys , I have been checking out this forum for some time now and I think there are some very knowledgeable people here. With this in mind would you give me your opinion on this helmet. I believe it is an m42 , on the liner is marked a name in pencil which I will provide when I can decipher it. Stamped in the skirt is clk 64 and 3033, chinstrap is black with 10 holes still evident and tip is broken off. Looks like the owner may have been a little deaf as apparent bloodstain on left side. Liner is soft pigskin with a 57 stamped in a circle and metal band has what I think says 64 NA and a 57 behind area where bloodstain is. Thanks in advance for your info and expertise. Regards !!!!

The shell might be original. I think this a reenactment helmets. Liner looks repro and almost unused to me(pic 6 and 11). I would guess the chinstrap is as well. Just my opinion friend

No problem mate. Let's see what others say about the liner and CS. The liner band just looks strange to me and the whole liner itself does not look the have the same degree of wear as the helmet is supposed to have. If the liner is a replacement, then the paint is not WW2 either. It's also a little odd the CS tip is missing, as it almost look brand new.

Usually blood from WWII would have completely eaten the heavy stain area away by now. And where it touched the metal the paint would be long gone by now. IMHO

It's a pretty good attempt - Here are some things that I see:

Some of the scratches look too recent, also a punch or some other
tool was used to give the look of extra wear to the outside surface.

The strap is not worn at all and I too think it's strange that the tip
is missing, as though it has been purposely torn off. The liner
has gouges every inch or so, with no consistent aging
all around the edge..........

The Liner is in too nice of a condition, w/ exception of the chemical stain... but the chinstrap is cracked and brittle. So one is not original. Plus the paint looks artificial, the airvent(hole) is missing the paint along the edges, but the high point on the rivets still has paint. Thats odd. The overall wear is not uniform.

Any ideas on branch of service - army , navy etc. I bought this helmet in the winter along with 2 mark 2 helmets for not much money, but would like to know about it for sure. Thanks to all for comments so far !!
