    Thanks again for all the replies!

    Now, I've just noticed another marking, on the chinstrap. It looks like 1BA, or LBA, or IBA. This marking must mean something, and I understand unit markings were sometimes stamped into chinstraps, so I'm hoping this marking might help shed some light on the history of this helmet. Anyone recognize this abreviation?

    This marking is for the Luftwaffe. It is LBA. So correct for this helmet. Another nice touch. Congrats

    LBA means -Luftwaffe Bekleidungs Amt. Basically the Luft clothing Depot
    "Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
