Re: Can someone ID this helmet?
It is an Austrian M16, from WWI, and looks like it was reissued as a double Heer (Army) transitional helmet. I say that it looks like it was reissued with two decals because from the pictures, I am not sure that the decals are real. The liner band is from an M31 liner, which was developed and went into production in 1931. It looks like it is an aluminum reinforced liner band. Ask the seller for better pictures of the decals and post them if you can. Jim G.

This is my helmet, I came across it today for free. Does anyone have any idea how much its worth or what I should ask for it?

Re: Can someone ID this helmet?
From what i can see , there may be something not quite right with the tri-colour, the white diagonal seems to extend further than the red ,appearing disformed , perhaps some one else can give their opinions re this

Re: Can someone ID this helmet?
I can see what you mean by looking at the picture I provided. Looking closely at in in person, You can see where the red paint as been worn off, it all lines up and does not look deformed to me. I really appreciate everyones help. Im having a very hard time trying to sell this helmet.

Re: Can someone ID this helmet?
Thanks for that Clayton, what i did was to take a straight edge and run it along the red to the top,to me it formed a correctly proportioned decal, one way to be absolutely sure is to measure the decal across its width and then to measure the portion of decal at the top to where the white ends , the decal should be 40mm x 33mm give or take a mm as some decals differed in height by a mm

Re: Can someone ID this helmet?
This helmet has had a number of repaints and it looks like there may have been more than one set of decals applied. I'm still on the fence with the decals, but leaning towards them being good. If you sell list it on ebay, don't show the eagle side and it probably will make it through the listing period. I would put a starting bid at about $174 - $200 and see where it goes from there. I the shape it is in it is worth a couple hundred USD's in my opinion. Good luck with it. Jim G.
