The rust on the decal seems to be disproportionate to the rest of the lid.

imediately suspicious of this one.
It's a tough one, but I like it.
I like the decal, and I like the general appearance of the helmet. I also like the paint, and patina, however what you have to consider is that if this was painted 40 years ago by an over enthusiastic collector, it would display the same sort of general wear, and that is what always concerns me with so called "camo helmets"
30 years ago they never surfaced on the collectors market, but today they are in abundance. A bit like SS helmets.
Personally I don't think that the liner is original to the helmet, but that does not make it "wrong"
And as a final note............ it all depends on 2 things
a) The price
b) The guarantee, & return policy
Good luck
The liner looks very clean compared to the shell.
Think im sure that im gonna leave it
That would be a wise decision
If in doubt, walk away (or run)
will run and keep running see the other helmet i got from this guy in another thread im sure its right as it is a relic the decal looks ok to my blind eye tho lol
Wise decision to stay away. I'm fairly new to helmets but a few things raise the alarm for me. This helmet has been messed with in my opinion.
First of all, if this helmet was exposed to conditions where it could rust like that, the liner certainly wouldn't be in that kind of shape. Therefore, I think the liner has definetely been replaced. Just check out some of the photos of liners that come from "barn" or "bunker" found helmets.
I stay away from camos and try to stick with the simpler stuff. Fakers have gotten very good when it comes to helmet camo and aging.
If its still for sale (and cheap) Ill take it ..even its not real i like the looks of it!
