and re-enactor items too - where this lid should have gone

Many thanks!
He has been "blipped" by the way - and is not welcome here in the future in any case...
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
Just a thought, but it May be one that might want to be looked into regardless. It would be considerable time and effort involved, but might there be someone or more that can periodically check listings for authenticity? It would add considerably to the Forum's prestige and reputation if it was known to be site that was totally safe to purchase from it's classifieds.

Good job. A very poor attempt on faking a wiring.

We all play our part in policing the classified section and the amount of dodgy items listed there is very minimal and they're dealt with straight away. You can't legislate for the occasional chancer, we have to be reactive in situations like this but we can also be proactive and be alert for the fakes which we all know will be posted from time to time.
Even if a new member posts a legitimate item for sale and you want to buy it, how do you really know you'll get that item? You don't until it turns up, therefore, all buying on any forum contains an element of risk which is why I have said many, many times before - USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!
It shouldn't be left to one individual to be responsible for spotting fakes, that person would require an enormous amount of knowledge across every area of militaria collecting which is just an impossible thing to ask. Everyone has a responsibility to call out fakes as the collective knowledge here is the weapon we have to make sure no-one gets caught.
As this scenario has proved, the system does work. The seller was caught out, no-one lost any money and now he's been banned.
