    Default Cross of iron helmets

I watched cross of iron again ,and enjoyed the helmets. The cowardly officers m42 which was mostly always covered in mud was excellent. i liked the young recruit who had the reg helmet cover, and tyre band on his helmet. It draped a certain way on the helmet thAt looked fantastic.I wonder where these two helmets ended up ,in someones collection or gathering dust in some prop sellers store.Interesting they seemed to only use italian ww2 style helmets for the russian soldiers in the movie which was disapointing.I WOULD LOVE A PROP HELMET FROM THE MOVIE I MUST LOOK OUT FOR ONE!

Is that the name of the movie Vegas "Cross of Iron"? How old of a movie is it and what is it generally about? I'm gonna have to take a gander at it if I can find it.

    Thanks,
    Jay

    Cross of Iron (1977)

It's a great movie with James Coburn... do yourself a favour, and watch it.

The plot is basically about a German soldier dealing with the futility of the Russian Front.

I'm on it! I will dig it up somewhere. I've got too many kids to run around so it's hard for me to sit through a whole movie but I'll get it done. I just looked at the trailer from the link you sent me. It looks fantastic and very realistic. I can't believe I haven't seen it.

    Thanks,
    Jay

"Cross Of Iron" came out in mid/late 70's, as I remember seeing it
in the theater back then. Contains a good amount of well known
actors of it's time - James Coburn, Richard Mason, Maximilian Schell
and David Warner. Generally about the WWII Russian campaign
    from the German POV.

It was directed by Sam Peckinpaw who is generally known
to have lots of blood and gore for added "realism" in his films.
( There are some slow motion scenes in this movie, where soldiers
are getting hit with blood gushing everywhere..............)

    Pretty good film.

    Regards,

    Steve.

Hi Sitges, COI is about a particular squad of german infantry misfits whos Sgt a guy called Steiner is very experienced veteran but is fed up of the fighting. He gets a new commander who is a Prussian Aristrocrat , never seen battle and is jealous of soldiers who have a Iron Cross, thats all ill say but its a damn good film made i think in the late 70s early 80s,you should be able to get it pretty easy ,its nearly as popular as the Dirty Dozen.

Hi sitges, amazon and alibris have several copies of the Cross of Iron movie for sale. Also, I thought the novel by Willi Heinrich, on which the movie was based, was very good. Cass
