DD KM re-issued to army....

Hey gang....don't think I posted this one here before. Got this one in the fall. It's a DD decal that was first issued to the KM....Here's the details:

ET66 helmet that was initially a DD KM...re-issued to the army. Nice name navy tag on the liner: helmet belonged to a Mr. Breitner. His unit came under the command of the Admiral of the North Sea. His personnel number within that unit was 35 and Breitner joined the Kriegsmarine in 1937. The "K" stands for Kausten Laufbahn Land (Coastal service based on land rather than sea hence Coastal Artillery)

Nice dome stamp ('37 dated) as well. The liner band is also dated '37. Not sure if the pics show it - but in hand - if you look closely, you can see the outline of the original decals.

I love how this helmet tells a story. I love how the helmet displays both the apple and pea green colours. Love the name tag: so....I had to add it to the collection. Thought I'd share some pics!!!

could this be a dda re-issued to the KM?,,,other than the cloth tag,,i see no discernible way to attribute this to the KM...

It could be "vice-versa" as you said....the adler in my opinion is a toned Heer...not a KM decal - that is why I thought it was re-issued to the army. I'd love to see what the decals are underneath the ones on top - but you can understand that I'm not going to go digging!

If only it was required that every German write his full name and unit on his helmet... Helmets suddenly go from being $800 chunks of steel and leather to priceless artifacts with amazing stories. (Not that an unnamed helmet is a niusance of course.) : )
