I thought I would share these two bogus helmets being sold at a gunshop for $79.95...

I informed him that they were blatant fakes and he didn't take too nicely to what I had to say...

Lars,I am a very new member to this site and have been collecting militaria since the mid 60's,gave up at the start of the 80's but I keep an interest in all things militaria more so German steel helmets,I must say I am shocked at just how good these fake helmets look,I have had quite a few original ones pass through my hands in previous years and know these were ok but for someone now starting to collect helmets it must be very difficult for them to know which is fake and which is original. your thread is great showing these fakes and will be of great help to anyone thinking about buying one,I had not realised that the fake ss decals had got so good,thank you again for a great thread....................marimba

Hello, I have this same helmet with red star in front. What is the value of these helmets? Because I want to sell them. I have a blue one aswell. Police helmet.

Here is a new one that is out. It is hard to see in the picture but it has a really nice "metallic" look to it. Incredible detail and doest have the "stipling" behind the swas like the common reproductions have. It is really close to an original. It is one of the best reproductions out there.

I know its bad. Its my first. This guy is at the Dixie gun and Knife show. So if you see him with his German booth and accent......stay away!! I am pretty sure all his stuff is reproductions.
