Fake humpback chinstrap?

Article about: I have seen this chinstrap on a helmet for sale and was not instantly taken with the shape. Is this a fake 'humpback' chinstrap? Thanks.

Yes. I just looked, Frank shows the same style buckle on his site. Makes one wonder why the fakers did that. No period buckle is shaped that way

You can also see a raised lip around the edges. Not sure if that is a "bad" sign as well. Not a characteristic of any buckle in my collection (if I remember correctly.)

Thanks Gent. Was focusing on the buckle. Yes, the leather is obvious.

This is what I think is the area in question

I think they were just made for re-enactors. But also remember that these straps existed already in the nineties before there were many sources on chinstraps.

Well spotted Schwerpunkt, but does the helmet measure up to the NS description? Or is it all faked??

On my cell phone. Hard to see. Definitely can't comment on the decal but I am not liking the white camo and the liner does not look original. I see no wear, especially where it rolls over the band.

Might change my mind on a bigger screen

I would expect to see some slight wear to the liner but this one looks like it's never been on anyone's head.

seeing the complete liner I also dislike it , the rear stitch is completely wrong.
Decal is correct for an NS.

The winter camo , not too fond of it.
