does anyone know if i can get the varnish removed by a professionall in the uk.
A lot of vets laqured or varnished their souvenir helmets. It is just the story of the helmet as it passes through history. It is a good honest helmet. I would leave it alone.
The helmet is a KM from the lot 100161 by EF, the decal is not a "ca pocher" but a "huber jordan and K" also called "thin wings". I have got the same helmet from the same lot in my collection.

That's good news man!
Regarding the laquer, I think you should leave it the way it is. A laquered KM like that is what gives it such a deep gold tone.
