Found two helmets at an antique store near me and I need an informed opinion

The OP's question has already been answered. He would do well to study reputable
dealer sites & compare their prices to the ridiculous amount asked by antique shops.
As a fellow Australian collector I certainly do not feel qualified to give an opinion as
far as international pricing is concerned given the totally unreal sums asked in our
own market.

I am probably going to come back to him with an offer of 300 (just so he still makes a decent profit.) Is there an official appraisal guide online that I can provide a reference to for him when he tries to counter with 489 or something insane. Cricket, do you have links to these helmets? I would like to buy one if this deal falls through.

I reckon $300 would be a great price for a double decal civic in that condition! I had a similar one availble to me for $350 but had to back out --- if he agrees to your offer you should be pleased, seems like dealers want between $350-400 and up (in some cases -- inflated) for really nice complete examples. I have yet to find one that suits my tastes and the one you have there I'd have easily snatched up -- at the right price, mind you. Good luck!

Original but overpriced as the fellas are saying.
Make an offer of what you would be prepared to pay, and walk away if it isn't accepted.
Go back a while later (cos they will still be there at those prices), and repeat your offer.
If your offer is reasonable, chances are you could get them.
