    Hi
I have recently joined your esteemed forum, I was a collector of ww2 relics when I was a boy, and now I am 43 I cannot shake it off so I am taking up where I left off. I recently bought a german helmet (I have two others which I Have had for years (30) which are genuine. my recent aquisition is doubtful. Can you help me.
It was sold as a camo helmet which has an original shell, a new liner, and was repainted post war. I have my doubts as it seems to good inside, and the scratches look like an attempt at ageing. Can you Help? opinions?

    Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure exactly what your concerns are with this helmet. If it was repainted post-war then it is probably an attempt at ageing. Since it's not wartime paint it doesn't really matter if it was aged or not.

Post-war repaint and fake decal, a lot of that going around nowadays.

    Hi
    Thankyou for your quick responses:-

I accept this helmet is tampered wih, ie repaint and new liner.

My concern is:- Is this obviously a Chinese modern copy?

    How could i tell?

    Can anyone inform me ?

Also is it obvious the decal is a later copy?

    regards

Oh, you mean the shell! It looks like a good original shell. What is the factory stamp, size, and lot number?

Are you sure it says CK134 and not CKL64?

Shell is good but obviously as a collectors item it's worthless.

I accept as a true collectors item it is of little value but I just saw it liked it,then hoped after reading your forum that it was not a modern Chinese copy!

At least you now know you have a good original shell. If you are getting back into collecting and it has been a long time, I suggest you check out this site: The Online Guide to World War II German Helmets

Read through it and make sure to check out the fake German helmets thread on this forum. More importantly, study plenty of original hard. There are more fakes on today's market than original examples so tread carefully.
