Re: German camo helmet
Welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure exactly what your concerns are with this helmet. If it was repainted post-war then it is probably an attempt at ageing. Since it's not wartime paint it doesn't really matter if it was aged or not.

Re: German camo helmet
Post-war repaint and fake decal, a lot of that going around nowadays.

Re: German camo helmet
Hi
Thankyou for your quick responses:-
I accept this helmet is tampered wih, ie repaint and new liner.
My concern is:- Is this obviously a Chinese modern copy?
How could i tell?
Can anyone inform me ?
Also is it obvious the decal is a later copy?
regards

Re: German camo helmet
Oh, you mean the shell! It looks like a good original shell. What is the factory stamp, size, and lot number?
-
Re: German camo helmet
Hi
Stampings to the rear skirt of the shell reads : CK134 & 5504 it is size 58 (marked on liner)

Re: German camo helmet
Are you sure it says CK134 and not CKL64?
-
Re: German camo helmet
Shell is good but obviously as a collectors item it's worthless.
-
Re: German camo helmet
I stand corrected it is ck164 (well done) and thanks
Al
I accept as a true collectors item it is of little value but I just saw it liked it,then hoped after reading your forum that it was not a modern Chinese copy!

Re: German camo helmet
At least you now know you have a good original shell. If you are getting back into collecting and it has been a long time, I suggest you check out this site: The Online Guide to World War II German Helmets
Read through it and make sure to check out the fake German helmets thread on this forum. More importantly, study plenty of original hard. There are more fakes on today's market than original examples so tread carefully.
