German helmet passed down by Grandfather

    Nice original SS helmet in my opinion and a special strap configuration. I own a Normandy camo with a gasmask can strap.
    No need to pay for an authentification , the best way to get it authenticated is by way of a forum.

    Please keep the helmet in this state and don't attempt to use products on the exterior or on the leather to attempt to revive it. Just store it in a normal environment , a regularly heated room.

    Im no expert in this field but its crossed my mind that blood has a salt content which could easily break leather down in this way.Remember your Mum telling you not to wear your best shoes down the beach cos it rots them?
