Re: German Helmet Question
the pic is not of a ww II german helmet, possibly a german Grenschutz helmet used by Germany in the 1950's and '60's...repainted i would say with a fake nazi decal of some kind....

Re: German Helmet Question
Wonder what the deal is then. On the article it says the veteran recovered it. Just doesn't make any sense.

Re: German Helmet Question
I saw the article when it came out.the helmet is no good.

Re: German Helmet Question
can't always trust a veteran for an authentic helmet then.

Re: German Helmet Question
Definitely not a WW2 Helmet. As MM says, possibly a Border Guard lid from the cold war era. The decal on the left is a definite fake, and applied or painted to resemble a party shield that you may see on an SS helmet. The SS runes would be on the other side. Wonder why its being called a WW2 vet bring back??

Re: German Helmet Question
he may have well "recovered it" maybe meaning he repainted and re-badged it or he might have "recovered it" simply by bringing it home with him....wonder what "incredibly harrowing battles he fought in to obtain a valuable war trophy like that"...

Re: German Helmet Question

shameful on his part and disrespectful to all true Hero's & Warriors everywhere...

Re: German Helmet Question
All we can say for sure is the caption to the picture is incorrect.
The Vet may be on the level with the rest of his story.
But just because someone is old, it does not make them honest or truthful.
Cheers, Ade.
