could've been taken by soviet partisans who painted a star on it (they did so with belt buckles).

Would have to agree totally although you would have thought the Soviets would have used a red star in keeping with tradition mystery helmet timothy

Yugoslav partisans were also used German helmets during the war and on which are draw star (petokraka).big number of helmets used by the Yugoslav army after the war only with a small red star.late change germans helmets for yugoslavia made helmets M-59/85,which are similar to the ww2 German helmets.
