Doug's opinion is about top of the totem pole around here, I doubt anyone will say a whole lot different. I was going to say, I think I have the exact same repro early Luftwaffe eagle on a fake M38 I have (I bought both as repros to fill a gap I may never fill with originals).

Hello again ,I would go elsewhere personally ,as Doug has said the two lids that look ok from these images (the 3rd HEER? and possibly the last LUFTWAFFE) are not rare versions and better ones will be found with a bit of searching. I am sure the PM Doug sent you will prove fruitful. Leon.

The problem is that the sites that sell these helmets want top dollar and much more than this guy is selling them for.
On the other hand you get what you pay for.
But I am not really a German helmet collector and I really dont care how rare they are and they dont have to be in top condition.
What I do care about is getting my moneys worth.
I would probably be happy with either one of the two that Doug suggested look OK.
The question is really how much should I offer the seller?
I may ask for another pic of the Luft eagle.
Maybe I will offer $450 for the Army and $500 for the Luft if it checks out.
Any thoughts on that idea?

Hi Anton ,if this is your price range and the condition sits well with you then in my opinion helmet D(The HEER) is the best one ,as for price I would always say personally a HEER decal is more desirable than a LUFTWAFFE so I would offer the higher price for the HEER. Just my opinion, all the best , Leon.

Hello again , personally I am not that keen on this LUFTWAFFE decal now you have a clear image, the detail of the feathering to the top parts of the wing seem quite poor to me. I would go for the HEER still, Leon.
