Default German helmets with web liners

Hello everyone, the other day I saw a neat looking german helmet. I wasnt going to buy it because im broke and I didn't have time to post pictures of it for you experts to authenticate. Before I was going to ask what the price was, I noticed that the liner was not Lether! It was webbing liner that you find in steel pot helmets. I was confused and decided to "drop it like its hot" because I thought it was a fake. Just to make sure, is there any information you guys would share on helmets like that? Are they collectible?

Sounds like a post war item. A WW2 German lid should have a leather 8 fingered liner (9 if its a size 68 or up) that is suspended in a metal ring afixed to the sides of the helmet.

A web liner like that will be afixed at the top from memory and, although the helmet shape is right, it never served in the war

    Hope it helps

Did it look similar to the U.S. M1 helmet liner webbing? Was color was it?

It sounds like it was a Spanish Modello Z. These are M42-esque helmets that Spain issued to its military in 1942. A good, complete original one is worth maybe $75-$95.

I am certain Mo is correct. You did right by not buying it.

    Cheers, Ade.
