Hello, just wanted to ask a few questions regarding ww2 German police helmets.

Firstly are there many fakes about?

Would a German police helmet have been green at any point in its lifetime?

what is a repainted German police helmet with liner and no decals worth?

Any help would be very greatly appreciated, I will find a photo of the type of helmet in question and post asap if it helps

    Many thanks in advance

I must add this is not the exact helmet, this is only an example of the type of helmet in question!

The type you present is a lightweight helmet and less collected than the combat model , also easily 3-4 times cheaper.
So my advice is not to settle with a cheap one , get a decent high grade one.

the helmet in question has been painted black with a brush but underneath is a a field gray colour so does that mean its a lightweight combat police helmet painted to look like a civil police helmet?

I would not buy one of these without decals.

Because they are not as 'in demand' as a combat lid, you can find them
with decals, and in very decent shape for between $300 to $500.

I would tuck that money in a jar till you have enough for a decent one. Or just use it for a nice dinner for the family ;-)

Sorry to bring this up again, but was it only the Germans who used this type of helmet or did any other countries use similiar ones?

    Help would be greatly appreciated
