Interesting photo of a Luftwaffe flight crew member wearing a converted M35 or M40. Interesting as he seems to have his helmet on backwards. Sorry for the poor quality pic

M40 helmet worn by a NCO candidate....
notice the Hauptmann's age and medals/awards....impressive
location unknown, October 1943

Quick google search and I found out that the NCO on the right was a man by the name of 'Hans-Hermann Sassenberg' awarding the man on the left with the golden close combat clasp. The man on the left is named 'Hans-Georg Rusdorf'. The NCO on the right died later that year in Ukraine and Hans survived the war living up untill 2014 at the age of 92. Excellent foto, though I'm only 6 years late of seeing it
