IMO its bad, Leather should be stich toogether with no edge not one side over other side.

Also the texture of the liner looks that is not made from real leather.
And btw the paint of the helmet appears to be brand new.

My question is: What kind of model is this supposed to be? Is not an M35, M40, M42 or M16. So is it German at all?

You have done one thing correct here, and that is you came here and posted this very bad helmet prior to losing any money. Hats off to you on that. Stay away from eBay until you have enough helmet collecting experience to differentiate between authentic helmets and pieces and most of the junk that is on there, which is about all of it. eBay is a mine field. Stick to reputable dealers to start. You will spend more but will have good, authentic helmets with lifetime guarantees, and you will be fine. Welcome to the forum!

Dave has a good selection posted right now. always pleasant to deal with. The collectors guild has a good number but can be pricey. German helmets if has some new ones from last week.
