Helmet ID

This helmet was given me by my ex father-in-law who brought it back as a souvenir. I've been told it is a naval helmet, but have no idea. Could anyone provide additional information? Thanks in advance.

Now that looks to be a very nice M40 style single decal Army helmet. It looks a toned gold colour, which usually happens when the lacquer has been on it for a number of years
