Hitler Youth Helmet

Hello,Just wondering if a helmet I have is real.
The liner is paper cloth and the chinstrap has a late war plastic-leathery feel. Single piece gladiator style helmet with a single hitler youth diamond on left side. If it is real than it is probably a HJ flak helferen helmet. Just want your opinions.

The helmet is certainly original. The HJ decal is what is crucial here. A good clear close up photo taken in natural daylight is what is needed.

Here is the best photo that I could take of the decal.

(Sorry my camera is not good.)

The top and bottom points are missing and it has a brownish color of age to the white part.

I agree with Ade that the helmet shell, paint and liner are all good. The diamond decal is the big question mark. Baer has a picture of an M42 SD Luft with a diamond HJ decal under the Swastika in his book, but I am not aware of any period photographs of such a decal. The only period photos of HJ decaled helmets that I recall seeing are pictures of M34 civic shells with HJ decals that are full standard sized decals with the HJ diamond inside of the black, bordered shield. I am not convinced that the small HJ diamond helmet decals are original period applied insignia. Jim G.

Good point! If this one came up i would not belive .... KEEP THE HELMET FOR A WAIL IT LOOKS GREAT! YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET SOMEONE TO HAVE IT INHAND FIRST.,

GREAT PICTURE - and yes, up until a minute ago if I saw that helmet on a table at a show I would have walked right by! Are there any period photos of a helmet with the small diamond HJ decal? I would love to see one. Cheers, Jim G.
