also, there is a shell marking of 6 then a gap and another 6 stamped, as well as a circle with the letters LS inside the circle ., can any one tell me if they have ever seen this or heard of such a stamp ?
Liner is postwar, the shell too; LS inside a circle is the postwar stamp, that's all I know.
EDIT: Helmet still has the BGS blue/green color on the inside.

Lowlife (thats sort of a self depracating name isnt it?) I moved your posts so as to be in a new thread and not hijack an existing thread on another helmet. The helmet you post is a postwar dressed up as a fake HJ. Also, when posting closeups make sure they are in focus.
Thanks and welcome to the forum!

looks to be a postwar german m53 bundesgrenzschutz with 153 liner ( border guards helmet) responsible for the security of the west german borders with east germany so definately not hj ,regards james

Agreed, a dressed up M53. Hitler youth did not have helmets with decals, apart from some fire volunteer units.
Welcome!
Yep, don't be fooled by these dressed up HJ helmets.
this m40 type helmet is usually manufactured by Linneman & Schnetzer ,welcome to the forum
