    Hello Everyone:

I've been looking at this helmet for awhile, what do you guys think?
    Item Description:
Army M-40 S/D Combat Helmet. the helmet shell is marked "ET 66" "4988" with a smooth, pea/green painted finish. the finish shows moderate to heavy wear from period use, with approx. 80% of the finish remaining. the worn areas of the finish have a dark and uncleaned patina. the left side of the helmet features and army eagle decal which is approx. 90% with scuffs from use. the helmet retains it's original liner, which shows heavy wear with all but three liner fingers broken off, the original chinstrap is present, however approx. 3" of the tip is broken off. the helmet shows heavy period use, and is a true combat veteran example.

    Thanks

Pretty rough, but looks all original. The description may be off some
as there is not that much paint left from what appears in the
photos. I'd also say about 80% decal..........
    Regards,

    Steve.

If you don't mind me asking what is the asked price?

This looks like a KIA helmet; rust in the bottom, rotten fingers. The chinstrap being cut down is normal, the soldier probably did it himself so it wouldn't get in the way. It's an interesting helmet.

Well worn - salty if you must - but a nice M40 all the same ( about $500-550 is where I would place it .....IMO )

I agree with Steve. The poor old Veteran has definitely seen better days, but is certainly all original. This helmet for Sure can say "I was There!"
(As the others have posted, I would not invest a heavy amount of cash into it, though. I'd say Dan has it about at it's max value.)

A well worn lid. Id try to get it for under $500 if possible.
