To identify this helmet

You did not do too badly on it !

Personally, I would remove the paint - back to the original surface
colour of the helmet underneath - whatever it may be.
There could possibly be some specks of
original paint left.

I would not touch the decals, whether they are fake or not.

Ok, thanks for your help Will begin to remove the paint someday next week. Is it good to use thinner or acetone for this?

Couldn´t wait, bought some acetone today and found the maker/size stamp: O or Q64 and the lot nr: 762. It was some filler inside it to hide two medium holes. Some darker rusty colour beneath and some parts were polished to the metal. This is just the inner. Too rough texture on the outside, doesn´t work with a sponge. Do you guys have any idea what I should use on the outside to remove the paint?

You should be able to remove paint with a cloth, but work slowly in small areas each time.
When you are finished, you can hide the filler patches with several shades of brown
and black paint - adding texture if you like - to match the rest of the helmet.

Here is how the helmet look now. Have ordered airvents and rivets and gonna restore it because no original paint was on the shell. Filler was behind the decals so they were fake.
Found a name in it today, like etched to the rim, a grade (I think?) and the name Keller, you can see it on one of the pictures.

I think it may possibly be 'Gfr Keller'.

It name seems to have been originally painted on the helmet
and it then rusted quite a lot around the letters, creating
deep pitting.
With all rust and paint removed, the information appears because
the lettered surfaces are actually higher - the name was never
exposed to the elements and was protected by the paint.
