I am a little confused about it, because the spring bands has corrosion marks where the 3 pins have been. The helmet itself is also in quite good condition. So the bottom of the trench it was found in must have been a "good" place. Are the original spring bands stainless steel? Has at least 90% of the paint left. The helmet has 2 layers of paint. The outer layer was applied with a brush of some sort. Most of it has peeled of as you can see in the pic below.
