Hi Daniel - nice lid. Appears to have had winter camo applied
and then removed, taking most of the bird with it.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Thank you for the quick reply

I kinda figured it was mabe a white wash or something but you cant really tell in the pics but some places have black specs as well
How much do you think a helmet like this would be worth?

A nice helmet a little salty but still nice it has a good look to it. A helmet like this maybe 550 USD for this helmet

I would assume the black specks are from a black or very dark green overpaint, reissue maybe? somebody removed the dark paint taking most of the whitewash underneath with it, but im far from an expert, I think 450 USD is a fair price.

P.S- your display case in the background looks awesome!!!!!!

I have a feeling that this was a black-painted flak crew helmet that had its black paint removed at some point. I once removed black paint from a post-war Czech refurb, and it left white marks like these. When my friends ask, I just tell them it's an ex-winter camo...

$450 isn't bad for that lid. Has a nice worn look. Even if it was stripped of paint.

    Thank you maximus

That display case actually houses a M42 Luftwaffe sd EF66 a M42 Heer sd HKP62, a M40 Kriegsmarine sd ET64 and a relic M42 lid plus my first helmet a M42 NS64 Heer single decal
I like the look of this helmet and it could very well have been a winter flak camo or something
    but who knows

Thank you again for the replies
