    Default M-42 Helmet Markings

I purchased an M-42 helmet in Germany while I was stationed there in the mid 70's. The helmet is green with no decals, shows a bit of rust, especially on the inside, and has a well worn leather liner and chin strap. My question is about the markings stamped on the underside of the rear. It appears to be either an "O" or a "Q" followed by the numbers 836. The 8 could also be a 3, I cant tell because the characters arent that clear. Can anyone tell me anything about these markings? I will try to post pictures in the future.

Agreed, Qiust Can you see the two digits that follow? It should start w/ a 5 or 6. Please post some pics! I'm sure we all would love to see it. Until then here's the Q marks on mine for reference.
