    Default M1916 paint scheme help

I would like some help as to the paint scheme on this M1916 WW1 German helmet. The stamp appears to be a "BF 68".
It appears to have a few paint colors, the original green, some brown (or rust) and it also has a grayish color.
Any thoughts on the colors and "what exactly" I have, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks 4md, looking closer, I think you are right. A closer look, it does look like a 62.
    Thanks. Merry Christmas!

Hi, well the grey is very much like Kriegsmarine ship board over paint in appearance. Here's my M40 KM over paint for comparison. Leon.M1916 paint scheme helpM1916 paint scheme helpM1916 paint scheme help

It is indeed a smaller size. Interior paint looks period Feldgrau. I'm guessing the outside is age spots caused by time and poor storage. NH

...but that liner sure is in excellent shape. Must be getting harder to find M16 helmets with original leather liner bands. NH

You have very oxidized feldgrau paint combined with dormant rust. Only my opinion.
