Re: M34 DD Just came in.
You sure have pick-up some very interesting helmets in the pass few years.

Re: M34 DD Just came in.
A question on the liner- the tight holed punch in the area of the forehead- that's period?
I have a post war made (WHY since the were tons of lids laying about after the war) West German Border Guard Helmet that has the same feature and I honestly thought it was a post war addition.
Thanks all & congrats on the nice addition to your collection!

Re: M34 DD Just came in.
The liner is period no problem.
They did reused old helmets.
The west German border guard helmet liners have bigger holes.

Hmmmmm, Yes that is the version Helmet I have (over stated vent hole stamps) the liner looks identical to this helmets liner & I had thought that forehead feature was post war......well good to know.
I know that they reused helmets but it just seems beyond belief that at the end of the war they'd need to make yet more helmets for a smaller standing force since so many lids were laying about.
Guess they just wanted to get people back to work.

Re: M34 DD Just came in.
The liner does look the same just for some details.

Absolutely period! Many civil style liners had perforations in the leather in the front of the liners.
