Hi,

Waiting for this helmet to arrive at my house.
...this years christmas present to myself.

M35 Heer SD ex. DD, paint is apple green.
Party shield removed as per 1940 order(prior to the invasion of France).
...you can still see the border of the decal.

Helmet with nice matching liner/chinstrap and liner tie string.

More pictures when I have the helmet in hand.

Nice helmet but the liner band is a steel one yes ? Can't see it for sure from the photos.
If that is the case it is not the factory installed liner.

Frank is right, from magnified close ups there are rounded chin strap bales from what i can see plus there is no aluminium look to the band, but still a good looking helmet

Why replace the liner and leave the original alum buckle chinstrap? I would have thought a factory replacement liner would have included a new strap?

Seems all focus is on the steel liner band.
As we all know the early alu liner bands were fragile and could easily break.
I doubt that this M35 is the only M35 helmet where the liner-band has been period replaced.

Still I like this helmet very much!
...in Denmark not often seen in this condition.

When I wrote "matching liner/chinstrap...." in the start of this tread, I just meant that all parts of this helmet match in condition/look.

This is not a helmet that has been put together postwar.

Well that's something you will need to inspect if it is indeed replaced post war or not.
I agree that in combat situation these bands would break easily but enough helmets have survived with the aluminium single band intact. Judging by the exterior condition the helmet has not seen much action so that would puzzle me.
But it is possible the replacement is wartime but cannot be excluded it may be post wartime.
Unfortunately Weitze has not a really good reputation when it comes to helmets.
