Why do you say "built as 1940 specs "?
It still has the 1937 reinforced alloy liner band. 1940 spec builds had zinc bands.

Yes, it has the reinforced alu liner band, but 1940's steel chinstrap bales.
    The domestamp is non-dated.
...in late 1939 or early in 1940 they stopped dating the domestamps.

So you can say this helmet is a hybrid.

This is why I say "built as 1940 specs".

Check the liner band when you get it just in case as the lotnr is early.
But from the looks of it when I look at my lotnr list Quist liner dates seem all over the place.
    Nice helmet.
This is just from one lot.

I will check the liner band and rest of the helmet when I get it.
...but I don't think it will be easy to read liner markings - liner band fits tight in the shell(see picture).
I will of course have a go at it.
Former owner already mentioned that you can't read the markings.

Have you noticed that the eagle is the dot-less variant?

The markings are not important it will be 1940 , just check the rivets.
