    This one did not need this treatment , it looked much better with the patina as it has nearly all its woodchip paint.
    I hope for you at least the sheen will vaporize...

    FWIW, I like to see the rust cleaned up but I sure hope that's not a gloss varnish?

    I would leave it as is and not put anything on it. Keep it dry and away from humidity and tempature swings.

    It certainly cleaned up nice. But, I also empathize with the fact the "layers of time" have been stripped from it. I guess it all depends on what you want out of it.

    I'm inclined to agree with leaving it be. Something like Renaissance Museum Wax might not hurt it, and would help preserve it, but it will darken it a bit and add a touch of sheen. Even then, as MAP said keeping it dry and clean in a stable environment will keep it like it is through any of our lifetimes. I would probably elect to go that route as well over the wax, if it were me.
