Are the liner rivets devoid of any paint because the liner has been changed?
Really nice re-issue, Scott! A classic!!

Phill, I believe the paint loss to rivets can often be explained by the type of rivet. For instance, zinc coated rivets often shed their paint easily

Thanks Josh, but what i meant was as it is being called a reissue, was the liner changed ? Or were Zinc covered rivets used in 1935?

    Cheers Phill.
I really don't know. There is plenty of wartime photographic evidence of helmets with rivets like this. Clearly it chipped off somehow. I am uncertain as to the timeline for zinc rivets, if this is the explanation. I presume the liner was changed during the war, which was a common practice, I think, but I don't know. It's a bit bent at the back, which might indicate that it was done in the field. The liner was clearly worn for some time in this configuration, if it was original to the helmet or replaced later on is hard to say.

And yes, the avatar picture is of my double decal Chickenwire KM. Only wire helmet I own at present. Its featured on two threads here on the forum.

Great helmet, I love everything about this one---especially the fact that it was found in Norway! Leave some for the others as well, will ya
But seriously, what would be the best way of going about locating helmets up here? Local newspaper ads? Anything to find on FINN? You sure seem to have a knack for digging out good ones...

My best success was in small rural newspapers or regional paper. I was only active for about 9 months but had incredible success. Internett is a waste of time. Old folks dont use it.
