LAS VEGAS
was camo introduced in 1917?lv
LAS VEGAS,.....BLONDIE is spot on with his description of the M16/17. By order of the General staff July 1918, steel helmets were to be camouflaged. Regulations stated the use of three colours, yellow ochre, rust brown and green, applied in patches and were to be seperated by finger width black stripes. Sometimes the paint was applied thickly to the shell and sometimes sprinkled with fine sand to matt the paint. Individual soldiers were responsible for painting their own helmets following the strict regulations, however some helmets have non regulation or even artistic camouflage patterns !
