Alright, I couldn't help myself. Out of curiosity and for argument/discussion sake, I meet the seller and took additional pics of the helmet. Additional comments?
gday im still not happy with this one from these photos, i would pass,
Before reading all of the posts, and before you posted these new photos,
I was suspicious of it. The 'aging' has been hastily done, IMO, and the
chinstrap 'wear' is inconsistent with the salty liner - ie: fake.
It is good for a re-enactor or a 'display piece'.
Unless it is under $200, I'd pass as well, but I have a feeling the current
owner knows what it really is and probably wants a bundle for it.
* I also recall there was a three-time Knights Cross winning
SS General by the name of 'Otto Kumm' - the last
commander of the 1st Panzer Division.........
Regards,
Steve.
@Walkwolf: the owner wants $2,000. i just nodded and kept taking photos. Even for $200, I don't need it that bad. I'd rather save my money towards a 100% original camo than a "display piece." Thanks for the info.
Good call - You have chosen wisely - to avoid this thing !
Lol, maybe you should tell him about SS General Kumm
and the price will double ! My guess he already knows.
$2000 ? - Drugs will do strange things to people.........!
Regards,
Steve.
This is the reason I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. Even if it was a good camo, I would put it at the lower end of camo prices. Not $2K. I think the only original parts are the shell and the liner. He has an idea of what camos go for because he told me he has seen them at $1K and "the sky's the limit." This one WAY exceeds my limit so I'm taking a walk.
Good call, this ones awful.
Another good helmet ruined in the name of profit
He'll probably put it on Ebay and get a crazy amount for it. Just not getting it from me.
