    Default M40 ET64 w/ 395 lot number - what branch helmet ?

    Hello all,

I have this one here that clearly has had two decals on it. It looks like there are multiple colors on the helmet as well. Is this a camo shell and what branch of service does this color suggest? On the interior of the shell, on the inner part of the dome is a red painted circle, did this signify anything or was it just done as personilization?

There is no information on M40 ET64 395 in the lot number reference.

Any thoughts on what this was issued as?

I can only speculate that after the war this was passed on to some kid, and he figured he'd paint some extra blood to match the story his dad told him...

Hi William, I personally agree with Glenn. I think this has been played with a bit and as an M40 it would not (99.9%) have been a double decal HEER! Possibly a double decal Combat Police helmet, but I suspect that it was originally stripped back and re-painted as a single or no decal helmet and has been tampered with post war. Leon.
